New Website and Blog

I am pleased to be writing this first blog and announcing our new website here at Artemis Sports.  It has been a long process, but the result is something of which we are very proud.  The site speaks to our capabilities, cutting edge ideas and the depth of talent at our company.  That being said, something a website could never really convey is our passion for sports and our non-profit work.  I will be writing several posts through the years which I hope helps give you an inside look at what makes us tick and, more importantly, why.  I am looking forward to this journey with our team and hope to share it with some of you who end up working with us here at Artemis.
 
In case you are wondering why we chose Artemis as the name of our company, I will provide you with a little background.  Artemis comes from Greek mythology.  She was the goddess of the hunt, fertility, wild animals and new beginnings.  Artemis is one of the great divinities of the Greeks.  Her name is usually derived from artemes – meaning uninjured, healthy, and vigorous.  According to the Greeks, she would be the goddess who also grants strength and health to others.  She was often depicted with a crescent moon which you will see in our “A” in Artemis.  My partner, Erinn, and I chose Artemis because of what it represented for us and the company we wanted to build.  We had both been in great jobs, but wanted to do something together that we truly cared about.  We didn’t want to just “work” day after day, but rather start with a fresh new beginning, doing what we loved, and helping others in the process.  Hence, we decided on the name Artemis to start our new beginning and to build something we both cared deeply about.
 
I will blog about topics important to our industry and our company, to provide a deeper understanding of what we do, deeper than what the website alone could ever tell you about us and our company.
